Anniversary nears, Blogsquatcher sulks..

“The Blogsquatcher” – The Archives

October 2, 2009 5:21 PM

Now, I’m not really sulking. But I must admit that my enthusiasm for the further investigation of this particular subject has taken quite a hit in the recent past. It wasn’t only because of MK Davis’ conspiracy theory, and how some folks got caught up in that — it also happened to coincide with certain emails that I got from other researchers touting other conspiracy theories, of the political variety. I began to think maybe there’s something too much of this conspiratorial thinking going on in this particular field. I began to wonder if there wasn’t something here, sociologically speaking, that just runs counter to my own way of seeing the world. So that’s one thing. Too much of this conspiracy crap gets your friendly neighborhood Blogsquatcher down.

Then too I have lately come up against the reality that I am not in the field mucha nymore, and I don’t really see that changing. Furthermore, my interests have always been a bit more varied than I can really express here. Bigfoot has been an interesting question for me to consider, but it isn’t the only thing I want to think about. This blog has begun to feel like a cramped shoe that I’m outgrowing.

And then there’s always my lazy and recalcitrant nature to contend with.. not to mention school starting up and all the things that go along with being a parent of small children getting back into the groove of homework, soccer practice, etc. etc. etc.

These things have conspired to squash my writing interests into a small and easily ignored peanut in the field of my daily duties. I know some of you enjoy this blog and check it daily, and I do feel like I have owed you at least a little more than a month of nothing while I figure out what I want to do, but dang it, that laziness and the sulk..

So here’s what I think I’ll do over the next few days, to celebrate the 2nd full year of this blog. I’ll start putting up excerpts of the book I’m writing for my loyal readers to read freely. I’ve got quite a bit of material already, so it can keep us busy for a while, and then I can think about what I want to do going forward. How does that sound?
