“The Blogsquatcher” – The Archives

August 22, 2008 9:06 PM

We are in the “post Bigfoot Body Hoax” era now. The big media interest in the story has died, and the search engines are finally cooling down too. What’s left now is simply counting the bodies.

And I’m not talking about missing bigfoot bodies. Reputations have been ruined –one cannot imagine Tom Biscardi’s surviving this debacle intact. The Squatchdetective, Steve Kulls’ took a hit, though his latest blog post with a timeline of his involvement may recover some of it.

It beggars belief, but Biscardi and his crew are adamant that they were snookered. You can watch a video on their site that they have prepared to show how covincing the body was. But I don’t see how we can get past the assurances Biscardi gave at the press conference and elswhere that he had poked and prodded the creature, indeed, that he had measured the hands and feet.

I’ll never understand what led anyone to go any further with the matter after the costume pictures were posted and were found to be an exact match to the creature’s face. I think it is a testament to the power of belief, and the trouble believing can get you into. It’s my position that you can’t afford to believe anything when it comes to bigfoot. You can entertain anything in your mind that suits you, but there’s no room for belief. We’re navigating some strange hall of mirrors, and nothing we see, or think we see, can be believed. It will have to be tested and then retested, analyzed, catalogued, and sent up for publication in a peer reviewed journal. Then you won’t have to believe. You will know

UPDATE: R. Lee gets the word out that most bigfooters weren’t fooled in a piece at the American Chronical.
