My Unknown Sounds

This page is an entry point into the larger collection of recorded sounds. To make it more manageable I am listing here only what I consider to be the most important recordings. If you are only stopping by to browse for a few moments this is a good sampling.

However, if you are really interested in sounds please continue on to my:

My Sounds (Complete) page.

Three Voices (2005)

The yelling and vocalizations were over an hour in length but because of  the distance only these three short clips were loud enough to hear.

While visiting my parents in Placerville, CA, my wife just recently heard a call that was very similar in sound to your 4/4/06 Illionois recording. According to her, the only differences were that the call she heard was longer and deeper in tone. This occured in mid 2009, and the sound came roughly from the area north of Placerville called the Great Desolation, a fairly uninhabited area of the foothills of the Sierras, noted for a few Bigfoot sightings, footprints and calls.

    Scott,

Thanks for the report. The Illinois Howl has been reported from quite a few states, Oregon, Washington, California, Mississippi being among them.

The Colorado Howl although on the surface sounds differently sound analysis shows that it is probably the same type of animal.

Hi, heard you on Coast tonight. That recording you remarked on as having 2 notes and said you had never heard that or thought it could be done by a person, I think. Well that is a very easy to do. Any singer worth their salt can do that, its easy and that it starts low and goes high only depends on the singers range. I have 4 ranges. If you want to hear that double sound, listen to a yodler.
To someone that doesnt sing I can see where this would be difficult to them, but trust me, its not :-)

Hi Stan, late night on coast to coast the sound’s you had are crazy, in a good way:) My brother said he has seen bigfoot and it is very real. Your sounds reminded me of something as a kid? My brother and I always played in the woods but can’t recall what? But your sounds went through my whole being for a reson, that I do know. Best of luck and thanks for your sounds, Blessings, JM

  5. Tim Rice says:

I never imagined a credible witness, as yourself, to bring information about such events in central Illinois, of all places. Great work. Thank you.

  6. Sally says:

Hi Stan, I was a listener on Coast to Coast AM last night. I am intrigued with the vocals (howls) that you have recorded. I have a thought, and maybe you have tried this, but when you howl to them and they seem to respond, have you thought of giving them something more than one tone to mimic? Not to be disrespectful, but I was thinking of howling to them like a Tarzan call and see if they mimic it. If they do mimic your Tarzan call, this could really open up a line of communication with them. This also tells you that they are responding to just you.

Also, have you ever thought of playing music from your house with outside speakers? If they are so close to your house as you were saying with the dogs being disturbed, the beings would probably hear the music playing since I would assume their senses are sharper than ours. It would be interesting to play classical music or new age music (something soothing but with a tune) and then turn it off to record any sounds to see if they may be listening and trying to mimic the tune.

If you did get a response from them, then I would also suggest trying something more advanced like playing Julie Andrews singing Do Re Mi from Sound of Music, since you said they seem to like women and children over men and Maria used this song to teach the children to sing in the movie.

It could be a fun experiment. The beings obviously have vocals cords of some sort, so can they learn to use them in a different way than they have in the past. If so, this will definitely show they have a higher intelligence and can learn.

I have seen music transcend barriers, cultures and languages. Wouldn’t it be interesting if we could open a line of communication with them in the manor and not harm them? Just a thought!!

    Stan,
I heard you on Coast 2 Coast this week, and appreciate what you’re doing, and thanks for sharing what you’ve learned.
Perhaps the following suggestion had been made before, but, have you considered hiding your trip cameras in a section of hollowed log, using a real tree trunk, just hollowing it enough to mount you camera, and mount it with hidden hardware, so nothing shiny can be seen? My guess is that if you use natural materials, some local to the area you’re wanting to photograph in, then there will be no odors for bigfoot to sense.
I do some nature watching, and am an old biology major from way back, and just happened to think of the odor level as a possible gain. Even mosquitoes can sense about 1/10,000 (or close to that) the concentration that humans can smell, and there’s no telling how sensitive the bigfoot nose might be.
    Just a friendly thought.

    Happy trails!

  8. Billie Leonard says:

My cousin’s husband was a United Parcel long distance truck driver. He hauled mail from Moses Lake, WA to Portland, OR. He was hauling over a pass in a snow storm in the wee hours of the morning. He said that all the sudden he came around a curve and crouched down was a huge hairy human like creature in the middle of the road. It saw the approaching headlights and jumped up and gave a leap and went clear over the snow berm that was plowed alongside the road. He said it was well over 8 feet tall.

  9. Joe Kingman says:

I am the owner of 3 Basenji dogs. These howelings sound exactly like my dogs. Basenji’s are known as the barkless dog of the Congo. They don’t have a sustained bark yet their howeling is identical to what you have here. My old female use to howel like this in my breeze way when she got lonely. I’m not trying to rain on your parade. For all I know they could be some kind of big foot. I’m just saying they sound a lot like Basenjis. It might do you good to find a local breader of this dog and ask them to judge. Blessings, ^j^oe

  10. Jeff says:

    Hi Stan,

I was lucky enough to hear you on C2CAM through podcast just last night and wow! Some of the stories and sounds were enough to make the hair stand up on your arms. :) I am interested in hearing two sounds in particular from two of the stories you told and can’t seem to find them on your site and wondered if you still had them - one was in reference to your first story about, I believe you were talking about a night you and your buddy decided to have hot food, started a campfire to cook, and then some time later you were being walked around by two sasquatches communicating with each - the second is one where you talked about you and friend stashing food somewhere for the past several years to lure them out and then you thought maybe they had discovered the recorder b/c the sounds they began making sounded like a formal means of communication and they backed off? Thanks for any help you can give on locating these two.

    ~ Jeff

    Hi Jeff,

The 1st story is not mine, perhaps it was one of the other guests.
