I have been running two recorders at home each about 200 yards apart. I have attempting to get a idea of the direction that the sounds are coming from and hoping the outer recorder will have less of Belle’s barking. On the 16th of December, 2011 from my deck I recorded this far off  ”yahoo” vocal which I think was perhaps 500 yards away.

My drop recorder recorded the same sounds. However, the dog barking (not Belle) is less pronounced. It gave me an idea of where the yells are coming from. Poor quality recordings because of the distance but it helps figure out the direction of the vocals.
